| Aims
It is inevitable that a major construction scheme
such as this will impact on the public and surrounding
local communities but our objective will be to keep
this to a minimum by:
- Developing relationships through good communication
at all levels, led by our Public Liaison Officer,.
- Minimising disruption during the construction
works by early planning, effective traffic management,
regular liaison with the community and effective
contingency planning.
- Ensuring that complaints and concerns receive
prompt responses
- Showing commitment to the local community through
local initiatives
Public Liaison Officer
The contractor’s dedicated Public Liaison Officer
Andy Jenkins will be based full time at the site offices
during the construction.
Tel no: 01873 831994
Email: Andy.Jenkins@bamuttall.co.uk
As one of the project’s prominent
public faces, his role will be key to the success
of public relations. He will be the central point
of contact and main conduit for ensuring that the
concerns and requirements of all interested parties
are dealt with in a professional manner.
Contact with Site Team
A central venue within the site office
will be established where residents can ‘drop-in’
for information and ‘post’ views or concerns
they may have. We will provide information boards
showing information and progress updates for the scheme.
Newsletters
Residents and businesses, who are in
close proximity ( within 150m ) of the site works,
will receive a bi-monthly letter/leaflet. These will
inform them in advance of any new areas of construction,
or if significant changes are about to be made. Details
will include traffic management, access arrangements,
working hours, noise issues etc.
School Visits
Our Public Liaison Officer Andy Jenkins
will offer workshops to local schools to encourage
their interest in the project and to promote a sense
of ownership. These will also be used to raise awareness
of the dangers of construction sites.
Considerate Constructors Scheme
The site has been registered under the
Considerate Constructors Scheme. The associated Code
of Practice will be publicly displayed and all site
personnel will be informed of their duties and obligations
in being a “considerate” constructor and
developing good relations with the public.
Complaints Register
Any concern, however small, that is
raised by members of the public will be entered into
a Complaints Register that will be kept by the Public
Liaison Officer in the site offices. Complainants
will always be encouraged to provide their contact
details so that they may receive a considered response.
Andy Jenkins will be notified of the concern/complaint,
and if possible, will give an immediate acknowledgement
and advise how he intends to deal with it. Once he
has investigated and resolved the matter, he will
close it out with the person concerned, confirm this
in writing and make an appropriate entry in the Complaints
Register.
Local Authority Liaison Meetings
Quarterly meetings will be held with
representatives from Monmouthshire County Council,
Brecon Beacons National Park, local councillors and
community councillors. These meetings will be to keep
representatives informed about the progress of the
scheme and to provide a forum for discussion of local
concerns.
Contract Web Site
A dedicated
web site will be operational mid July which will be
updated on a monthly basis to keep local residents
informed.
