| Minimisation
of Disruption
The A465 is a key route through Wales and it is essential
that we ensure minimal disruption for the travelling
public, local residents and businesses. We recognise
that our achievement of this will be a key measure
of the success of this project. Our team will minimise
this disruption by:
- Early project planning
- Generally maintaining 2 lanes of traffic along
the A465
- Programming to take account of local events
- Notification through radio, local press and web
sites
- Contingency plans for accidents and emergencies
- A safe, well signed Traffic Management scheme
- Provision for emergency services, particularly
to Neville Hall Hospital
Traffic Safety and Control
Officer
Our Traffic Safety and Control Officer Dennis Mullen
will oversee all traffic management issues, working
together with the Public Liaison Officer, local police
and the Project Manager.
He will liaise with third parties such as the ambulance
service, Monmouthshire County Council and Statutory
Authorities.
Temporary Arrangements
when traffic management is in operation
Once the traffic management scheme is in operation,
a dedicated team will perform regular patrols of the
site to ensure that it is maintained to the required
standard. This team will be backed up by temporary
CCTV cameras.
A free breakdown service will be operated within
the site to ensure blockages are cleared quickly.
Recovery vehicles will be situated at a suitable point
along the scheme so that access to any incident is
no longer than 15 minutes.
